The Adult Beginner String Ensemble is to fill the gap where an adult beginner has got into playing but finds that there are no regular groups to join and have a go at playing together with other like minded (and similar standard) players.
But now there is!
We meet generally once a month and work on different aspects of ensemble playing. There have been sessions on following and responding to slowing down of tempo, and learning to watch other players in order follow successfully. Also we have worked on responding to dynamics especially playing softly and loudly as an ensemble. But mostly it’s about making music in a low stress situation!
Music is custom arranged and in some cases newly composed exercises so that technical ability does not have to be a barrier to get some ensemble experience.
This is open for violins, violas, cellos and basses with no or little ensemble playing experience.
If you’re interested in coming to a session, please get in touch. It’s £10 for the 2 hour session which includes tea and coffee, biscuits, sometimes cake!
